Gaining Wings

Status report.

Haven't updated here in ages! Shame on me.

Am not doing too well at the moment... I try to fly, but my lazy brat often won't let me get off my butt. Over the last week or so I've come to realize which parts of my routines I now do by habit, and which I still need to work on.

Morning routine:
By habit: make bed, wash face, read Bible, take down either newspapers or trash when I leave apartment.
Needs work: swish and swipe, 2 min hotspot prevention, remember bag for grocery shopping after work.

Evening routine:
By habit: write journal, do dishes, wipe down, shine sink, put out clothes for tomorrow.
Needs work: 15 min zone work, take vitamin, floss

Could be a lot worse, I know, but I'd like to get into the habit of using just 10 minutes cleaning/tidying up each day... the apartment needs it! Especially the bedroom which still needs to be decluttered!

Back... sorta...

Don't worry, no real flying like I promised, just a small, easy routine.
  • Do dishes
  • Wipe tables
  • Write journal
  • Take vitamins
  • Floss
  • Put out clothes for tomorrow
  • Early to bed

I hope that's acceptable ;)

Just don't anybody come here today, please.

I'm glad you can't see the house right now as it is a bit of a disaster zone :( And, as is typical, I'm on holidays and seem to be coming down with something nasty. Today was going to be my "get-back-on-track-day", but instead I have spent most of it in a horizontal position, nursing the most dreadful headache. It (the headache) has finally diminished somewhat, so I am going to try to accomplish a few things, to wit:
  • hang clothes on line (they'll dry tomorrow)
  • make beds with clean linen
  • 15 minutes in kitchen
  • 15 minutes in family room
  • 15 minutes in lounge room
  • sweep
  • mop
  • vacuum
  • cook dinner
  • evening routine
  • some ironing
  • finish Michael's hat for tomorrow's Easter Hat Parade at school

Craaaash....

I've fallen off the wagon with a vengence... bah! I'm determined to crawl back up though, and my routines haven't disappeared completely, they've just... diminished.

So for the next couple of days I'll be concentrating just on one thing for my morning and evening routine.

Every morning I have to swish and swipe.

Every evening I have to use either 15 minutes in the 'zone', or 15 minutes in the room that needs it the most.

If the other things on my usual list come natural - great, I certainly won't stop myself ;), but these are the two things I NEED to get done every day until I feel ready to start fluttering again.

Of good things I can say that the laundry is done and the dishes are (mostly) done. I haven't fallen back that far :)

Wake Up Call!!

Ian and I sat down last night and for nearly 2 1/2 hours FACEd our finances. It was sorely overdue and both of us were horrified at how easily money has been dribbling away. We've structured a budget for this month (and this month only) and we have both committed to sticking to that budget. We've also committed to sitting down together at least once a month to review the previous month and budget for the upcoming month.
At one point I was feeling quick sick to the stomach as the numbers just wouldn't crunch. Then I remembered that there are three of my pays in this month, not two. The sick went away and was replaced with remarkable elation - poor Mr Bear was trying to cope with these seesawing emotions coming at him from across the table!
The upshot is, we know where we are going this month AND we know how we are going to get there. The downside is that two adrenaline rushes - one bad, one good - left me unbale to sleep until after 1am. Can't have it all I suppose.
